An important meeting in the Ministry of Education ... and these are its decisions
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Tariq Al-Majzoub, held a meeting with representatives of the educational components of the family represented by private educational institutions, the Teachers' Union and parents ’committees, in the presence of Director General of Education Fadi Yarq, Head of the Special Education Department Emad Al-Ashqar and Director of Guidance and Counseling Hilda El-Khoury.
The research dealt with the crisis experienced by private education as a result of the economic, health and social conditions in the country.
After deliberation and research, the meeting agreed to:
Consider the interest of the learner as an educational priority: educational, psychological, and health.
The sustainability of the educational family, as everyone is in one dilemma, and no party in this family will be able to survive alone.
The country is in difficult crises that it did not know before, and among these crises is the crisis of private education in its financial dimension. Burdens and losses must be distributed in an equitable and just manner among the components of the educational family.
Transparency and trust are two criteria for dealing with the components of the educational family.
Priority spending, securing teacher salaries and employee wages in full.
The era of expenditures (costs, consumables, etc.) is the primary basis for running school affairs in light of the crisis.
In light of these principles, the Ministry will:
Request from the concerned ministries, institutions and guarantee funds:
A- Reconsidering the contributions and contributions due, as well as the various operating costs of schools.
B- Working with donors to accelerate the payment of accredited school grants, directly to educational institutions. In addition to paying contributions to free schools.
In addition, the Ministry, together with the concerned parties, will lay down general foundations, directives and controls to re-examine the budgets of schools within a period of two weeks, according to a decision issued by the Minister of Education specifying how to raise the budget appendices to the Special Education Authority in the General Directorate of Education.
Schools are interdependent with parents and they exempt parents from the dues owed to schools for the past years and classified as debt, by reducing the unpaid accumulated premiums for previous years for these parents, at a rate equivalent to what parents pay for the current school year 2019-2020, exclusively for those of students who Suffering difficult economic and social conditions, classified by the Ministry of Social Affairs or official references in the country or according to the criteria of social solidarity for each educational institution.
